Syd Foster Plus
I am a poet getting into video installation and conceptual art. After spending my youth on "the hippy trail" (including overland to India and back in the mid-70s, a three year trip to "another world"!) I settled down here in Swansea and got a BSc from the Open University. (I'd read Fritjof Capra's book The Tao of Physics, and responded to his challenge to learn some maths in order to really understand quantum theory... I now can see how ignorant is so much of the chit chat around quantum stuff!) That helped me get a bookshop job, and after twelve years I was made redundant, but not before I'd got myself an iMac, and with the tiny bit of redundancy money I acquired a hd camcorder and Final Cut Studio. Thinking about all the ideas I've had for art projects over the years, I found that I was able to walk into the MA programme at Swansea Metropolitan University! Being unemployed, the tuition was free! Now I am starting the last year of a three-year part-time degree course in Fine Art and Photography. I am thoroughly enjoying it!
