Azul Serra

I have worked on films as a Director of Photography for the past 6 years. I use my camera and light as instruments, to find new ways to portray stories. I try to create a new vision through the use of colours, tonalities, movement and rhythm, so that different worlds emerge, which make us reflect on reality.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1983, I graduated from the Film School at Faap University, São Paulo, in 2006, specialized in cinematography.

Since 2007, I’ve been based in London and worked as a freelance Director of Photography on many different projects, like feature and short films, documentaries, music vídeos, corporate films, television, advertisements, teather, instalations and performances. Some of these projects have been screened, and awarded prizes, at international festivals in Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Tokyo and Rome.

Over the past three years, I have also directed and edited several projects, given a number workshops and travelled to many countries covering News with an international correspondent for Broadcast TV.

After so many different projects , my focus is to work on projects that generate more awareness of our social and enviromental problems, for a wider number of viewers. Joining people and organizations, who are already working in this área to combine strength and make Films that we are proud of.

To tell stories of characters, places, situations, which would help to open people’s perception and consciousness of the world. Such stories can be told in many different ways, Feature Films, Documentaries, WebVideos, Virals, TV programs and so on. It dosen’t matter the format, but truly what is the message behind it.
