BackcountryPilot.org is an online aviation magazine and community for pilots who enjoy the sentiment of bush flying-- escaping the world of paved runways in search of out-of-the-way airstrips surfaced with grass, dirt, gravel, or no improvement at all. Enjoy topics on flying technique, survival, aircraft, and places to visit.
The airplane was truly invented to go places that can't be reached by any other means. The frontier still exists, and the only way to find it is with a light aircraft.
Dubbed "bush flying" in the early days. this term is nowadays only applied to flying the most remote regions such as Alaska and the Yukon, and areas of Africa and Central and South America out of necessity, where air transport and freight are critical to survival. In the wilds of the Lower 48, the term "backcountry flying" is more common and used to describe this type of recreational flying.
We've set up this channel to show off some of our favorite Vimeo HD videos from our own productions, and other pilots and videographers. Enjoy!
