Gudrun Barenbrock works as a painter and video artist and is primarily interested in light as one of the possible focuses of human perception. She pursues this process with the camera, photographing and filming light and backlighting, shade and reflection. Often, the result is videos in which the surfaces and objects serving as imaging and reflection media disappear. Nothing remains as a clue to the specific place where the images were taken. Gudrun Barenbrock documents not what endures, but instead the transient – traces of light, movement and dissolution.
