Barkwheats™ Dog Biscuits are grain-free biscuits made from organic ingredients sourced directly from small-scale farmers. Based in Maine, we work with farmers throughout the state to grow buckwheat, parsley, pumpkin, canola oil, sage, blueberries, lavender and chamomile. We work with local apiaries to source raw honey and local harvesters to supply our sea vegetable (kelp) from off the coast of Maine. We partner with Sustainable Harvest International (NGO) to purchase fairly traded ginger from a organic farming cooperative in the Toledo District of Belize.

Organic agriculture promotes a healthy ecology by keeping chemicals out of the soil, preventing soil erosion and maintaining a diverse landscape. While lots of biscuit makers focus on organic ingredients, few take the time, resources and money to involve farmers in the creation of their product. Our biscuits are one step away from the fields in which the ingredients were grown.
