Founded by Sergio Lopez Figueroa (sergiolopezfigueroa.com) in 2008, Big Bang Lab is a participatory media and creative community development social enterprise based in London, promoting digital civic engagement and open communication between communities of stakeholders to achieve and foster cultural and social innovation.
We produce crowdsourced videos for charities and other organisations looking for crowdfunding as well as for advocacy and digital campaign by connecting organisations with users/audiences. The channel Shared Voices shows the example of our video production service sharedvoices.net We have worked with a number of art and music based charities by helping in communication and digital marketing using video as a strategy to capture the impact of their work by involving users in the creative process.
Big Bang Lab uses co-creative and participatory processes such as crowdversations® (goo.gl/yphmTl) to generate Digital Content and gather Good Data and as a strategy for public engagement as the starting point to help to achieve measurable social impact based on the analysis of data on video. We proactively include users in the process. One example of this model is the intergenerational media project Creative Generation (creative-generation.org.uk) funded by the Big Lottery where young people and older people living in social housing learned to use digital video and open enquiry leading to the creation of an online video channel as a community asset.
We believe on creativity and the impact in communities as creators of the Cultural Social Responsibility framework, Big Bang Lab is putting digital copyright and intellectual property at the core of our social impact agenda enabling online platforms of innovation in learning and programmes with intergenerational practises at the core, leading to job creation and active ageing objectives.
Since 2013 Big Bang Lab has been actively seeking investment to move forward. The programme to deploy cultural social responsibility is IWA (Intergenerational Wisdom Academy) a combined mentorship and digital learning programme that connects young graduates, retired professionals and deprived young people residents in Social Housing by delivering a soft skills training and accredited courses on video journalism, video CV and social media marketing for the long-term unemployed.
As part of IWA we are including a collective learning innovation programme using music to apply the soft skills (Collaboration, Leadership, Communication and Creativity) and the use of music to change human dynamics for the future entrepreneurial employee wiselondon.org.uk will lead to a launch using a Hackathon model.
In 2009 Sergio Lopez received a Cultural Leadership award supported by the British Council and delivered Delhi City Symphony a media and learning programme for young people delivered in New Delhi working in conjunction NGOs and other local partners including the Indian Public TV channel, media training, arts centres in the city.
