Also there are several underlying reasons that prevent the proliferation of surfing in Turkey, which include: not having a sea culture nationwide, fear of the waves, the widespread opinion that the waves in Turkey are not sufficient for surfing. On the contrary, situated on a land amidst of 3 seas, Turkey is quite suitable for surfing with a total coastline of 8493 kilometers. Especially the Region of Black Sea provides a wide range of suitable spots, when the wind is received at the right angle... And as a non profit organisation, BlackseaSurfers aims to develop the industry to make the existence of Turkish surfers known to the world, to set an example for the young surfers and maybe the most important of all, to start a surf culture in Turkey and make more people want to surf...
