Brad, Casey and I just finished working on something new, Vimeo Toys. Simply put, they're a cool way to visualize what's going on right now on Vimeo.

We've also added instructions on how to make your own.

Enjoy!

Another Vimeo gift that would enhance the project significantly!!

1) I'd like to see an option in "Group" configuration that porvides the choice of leaving it wide open for all Vimeo users (or) Private, meaning just the founder or moderators of a specific group can add or remove participants.

And #2, forum threads should have branching capability - but a secondary requirement, after #1.

#1 is already in there Ted, check the "Membership" preferences of your group.

I don't know what you mean by #2, but the best place to make feature suggestions is in the Features Requests forum.

Brilliant, that's bloody brilliant!

That's just sooooo much fun!! :D

It's a pity that none of the uploaded video's on pulse are visible. (Due to them not entirely being uploaded/encoded.)

Maybe the upload-pulse should be shown when the video is actually visible?

I agree it would be nice if they were visible, but we decided it would be better for everything to be as close to real-time as possible.

The same thing happens in Vimeoland as well.

Why did you guys think that was better? It's still "real time" if it shows up just as the video conversion is done (call the event "conversion done" instead of "video uploaded", if you need to be super-accurate :) ), and then we can also see the video! Too many colour test bars doesn't make for a fun "pulse" experience, in my opinion!

i agree

Robert-Jon Eckhardt

Well yeah, I kinda agree too.

After all, the moment conversion is done is the actual ("real time" ?) moment that the video is available on Vimeo. At least, that's when I go: "Woohoo, let's see what it looks like vimeo-style! Let's send the link to friend X and Y!!".

pulse is awesome. vimeo land is taking forever to load, or maybe its not loading at all. either way, cool additions.

should we be able to click and watch the videos popping up in Vimeoland? Looks like we can double click them in pulse to get to the page but haven't found a way in the land.

Brad Dougherty

You should be able to click on the thumbnails in Vimeoland as well.

You all should win some award for this...it is the coolest way to organically explore the community! This is so great. ~Cheers!!

The first video works for me, the second one has malformed embed code. Contact help if you can't figure out how to fix it.

I can't believe how amazing this turned out. It is these types of things that separate you from other video sharing sites.

Which by the way I thumbed through a Web Video book at Barnes & Noble today, and out of the 15-20 sites they recommend for sharing video online, Vimeo was not one of them. I knew the book was a joke after that.

A bit of a rant. Sorry 'bout that. Anyway. Great work!

Love the new toys :) so much fun - I want to embed them in my own pages so bad - you people do the best work ever!

mike ambs

mike ambs Plus

Oh!! How did you do that :) It would so amazing if you could tweak the toys to just display your videos or your groups... that's awesome.

Matt Schwarz

Matt Schwarz PRO

Well it takes a little code editing. I don't think I should share it just because Vimeo doesn't allow it, for a reason I'm sure. But if you think about how embedding works you'll figure it out :-).

Also, I couldn't get it to display just my stuff because I'm simply embedding it, you'd have to alter the Flash file itself for it to just be my stuff.

Good luck!
