Hello,

Monday, Monday, MONDAY means another This Week in Vimeo.

Let's flow right into the featured channel. It's called WATER and it's essential to life. This channel shows the world interacting with it. Pretty great stuff.

Sticking with the nature theme, I bring you Wildlife HD. This group showcases videos that capture nature and wildlife in High Definition. If you love animals and plants and stuff like I do, then this group is for you.

To top it off, we have a nice Vimeo Profile of member Mig Reyes. He's a designer in Chicago for the t-shirt site, Threadless! He was kind enough to sit down with us at the Festival last month. Check it out!

Have a great week and if you're in Canada or the States, a great Thanksgiving!

Hey I totally agree with Mig Reyes and why he likes Vimeo. I tried posting on YouTube before, but I felt ridiculous trampled by cat videos which did not take any effort to make, versus 300+ drawings I would be making for few minutes of my film. Here though, it's a different story, I feel that people want to see what others have got and the content is being promoted on grounds of quality, but staff and users, rather than on grounds of popularity. YouTube is great, but not for posting my work. Vimeo is the site I go to look for examples of work that could help me do my job.

In short: You are awesome and I am very happy so far. Third.

I totally agree - I got fed up with the "dumbing down" mentality of youtube . Vimeo seems to be about good art or ppl attempting innovation. Popularity has nothing to do with quality.

Those Vimeo video profile are really a cool idea. Can you tell us again who made them ? Was it Mark ?

I can't remember whose idea it was originally maybe me or Andrea? Mark shot most of them and has edited them all to this point. Next time you're in town you're doing one!

As a young (13) new stop animation film maker any advice on how to get my clips seen and commented on/ ideas for new videos would be gratefully received. Its weird not having anyone to share ideas with locally so Vimeo seems great! Thanks, Finbar.

I love Vimeo for my portfolio work, but if you're trying to get views, YouTube is definitely the way to go.

I hate saying this because I love Vimeo but, YouTube is also slightly more reliable as a service.

I think one of the big difference I find helpful about vimeo is that there is no time limit as to what you can post.

I post alot of work to my website and I have to go inbetween vimeo and youtube for hosting.

I usually embed through vimeo when I'm showcasing my film projects since I do not have to split anything longer than fifteen and (on a more personal note) the look of vimeo's embedded videos are more aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

On the other hand, I usually end up using youtube to host everything that is not a short film project (promo vids, fraternity videos, etc...)

I feel like that is the separation for me. I put everything I have on youtube, but for the work I consider more serious I use vimeo.

I still think Vimeo's interface is a little hard.

I must say that of all the locations to search for video or be introduced to to new filmmakers, interesting techniques, or receive insightful feedback on your own work ... Vimeo all the way.

Vimeo is such a breath of fresh air for me, compared to other video sites. Its clean, uncluttered, professional design reflect well the attitude of most of its users. Knowledgeable, passionate people, who just want to share their work and appreciate others.

I love it here.
