What's up Vimeo!?

This weekend we're resurrecting a classic video challenge from Vimeo's own Jakob Lodwick. Check out his hilarious mystery challenge from years ago, right here. We thought this was a great opportunity for a weekend project so we came up with our own updated challenge.

Some of of you may know and grown fond of a recent hire of ours, the Cowboy. Personally I find him kind of intimidating but he's a hard worker and has proven himself to be quite the help email wrangler. Take a look at my most recent encounter with him here-

Can you explain the mysterious disappearance of the Cowboy's mustache? Did it hightail off his face for sunnier pastures? Perhaps it wanted to spend some quality time with other mustaches? Or maybe it just wanted a vacation and is sunning itself in the Caribbean for a few days? Wherever it went we want you to show us. Make a short 1-2 minute video, explaining what exactly happened to that follicular formation formerly residing on the mug of our favorite office Texan. The most creative, humorous, and well executed video wins!

Submissions are due Wednesday, July 6th at 11:59PM (EST). I'm giving you all some extra time since this announcement is a bit later than usual. Submit your video to the Weekend Project Group or you won't be eligible for the contest. Please remember that only videos made specifically for this project will be considered. All submitted videos must be approved by the Vimeo Staff, so don't worry if your video does not show up at first, we'll get to it, promise! Only video shot and edited during the challenge period will be accepted.

The winner of this contest will get a free Plus account, or if you're already a Plus member, we're going to let you gift the Plus to whomever you choose (along with an extra 2.5 GBs of upload space)! The runner-up will receive an extra 1 GB of upload capacity whether Plus or not.

Have fun with this one folks, we're very excited to see what you guys come up with.

Update! Thanks to everyone that submitted videos for this week's project. Submissions were few but I'm feeling kind of generous so I've decided that there are two winners, in a addition to a runner up.

First up we have Julian Schädler's "A Texan Mustache". It's an insane journey of the mustache through the cosmos.

Our second winner is Kyle Milton's "Death of a Mustache"
Sadly our little mustache experiences an existential crisis!

Finally our runner up was Tim Sparks' "Mystery Stache".
A well shot narrative piece with stylized voice over.

Congrats to all and thank you for participating in this week's challenge.

Until next time!

1-2 minutes is a little short how about 3 or 4? So we can have some more fun with it? :)

Hmm, try to keep it concise, it's not a hard limit but shorter is often times better in our experience.

Cool. I got it right at 2 minutes. Thanks for the quick responses. I am compressing right now.

Just one thing... How many points I lose, if submitted video is not HD?

I am pretty sure that it doesn't need to be in HD. I think you have as good a chance as anyone.

Guess the moustache didn't much like the coffee either.

Berlusconi stole the moustache, he desperately wants a disguise in order not to be jailed. The fool!
