I was thrilled to see such an awesome turnout for this Weekend Project. Way to go, guys! There were so many creative approaches to the simple task of involving water and I had a blast watching all 99 of the submissions. Thank you all for putting in the time to make them and for participating. I hope you all had fun doing so.
Okay, on to the winners.
The Grand Prize goes to Pepe Gay
The color grading, shot selection and brevity of this piece was what made it stand out. I thought it was filmed expertly and the final piece flowed nicely.

Thanks again to everyone who submitted. You all did a great job!
This weekend, we challenge you to get wet (platonically, buddy). Find some water and make movie magic with it. If you'd like to stay dry, that's okay, too — the only rule is that your video includes water, and our understanding is that it hides in all sorts of places, including faucets, pools, the sky, and perhaps on Mars.
If your camera is equipped to dip (waterproof), we definitely encourage you to submerge it. As Mark Peters recently reminded us, there's a whole world under the water. And if you're lucky, you can capture it:
If your camera is not waterproof, we ask that you refrain from submerging it. Unless you really hate it.
For some tips on shooting beneath the surface, check out our Vimeo Video School Lesson on The Basics of Underwater Video.
Sometimes, if the water in question is the ocean, you’ll find people riding on top of it in an activity we call surfing. We very much like surfing, so we teamed up with Korduroy.tv to show you How to Make a Surf Video.
Now let's get down to the rules:
+ Find some water and shoot in and/or around it.
+ Edit your video down to one minute or less.
+ Upload and post your video to the The Weekend Project Group by Tuesday, August 21st at 11:59 PM (EST).
What you shoot is up to you, but get creative with your shots and subjects. Remember that only videos made specifically for this Weekend Project will be considered. All videos must be approved by the Vimeo Staff before appearing in the Group, so don't worry if your video doesn't show up at first; we'll get to it!
The winner of this Weekend Project will receive a free Vimeo Plus account for one year!
If you're already a Plus member, you can gift the Plus account to whomever you choose, and we'll give you an extra 5GB of upload space for your account. The runner-up will receive an extra 3GB of upload space, Plus account or not.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with!+ More from the Staff Blog Archive
