One Year of Plus Power on Vimeo Staff Blog

Wow, time really flies! It was only a year ago that we launched Vimeo Plus. Sign ups started to roll in, and soon Plus badges were all over the site, showing us how much you guys believe in the service.

We were very pleased with the reception, and it motivated us to keep refining Plus. We took the amount of HD embeds that come with your account from 1,000 to 5,000 and then a whopping 25,000. We took the weekly quota from 2 GB to 5 GB. We also added even stronger privacy options, such as the ability to restrict HD embeds to specific domains, and hide videos on Vimeo while making them viewable on your website.

In addition to all of that work on Plus, we did a lot of work that benefitted all users, increasing overall video quality, supporting higher framerates for HD, building up the Groups and Channels features, adding support for more video formats, introducing categories so it's easier to find great videos, WHEW!

If you think we're out of breath, we're just getting started! We've got more great ideas for where we want to take Plus in the coming year. We'll continue building the "must have" tools for your videos, and we'll continue to make it fun and easy to use. If your subscription anniversary is coming up, we hope you'll stop by the Vimeo Store and take a minute to renew. If you haven't upgraded yet, now's a great time!

  I'm yet to use more this site, but so far I've found it to be the best one to showcase my videos. The only thing I find it lacking, is the hability to upload >1GB files. 1GB is too small for HD videos (about half an hour or less). Other than that, I really think this is a great service.

  Aquí tienes algunas respuestas-
  
  -Un día. Esto es algo que queremos hacer pero ahorita no tenemos los recursos para hacerlo.
  
  -Estamos probando tomar vídeos de mas de 1GB, no se cuando pero vamos hacer esto
  
  -HD 1920 x1080 es un tamaño que no cabe en muchas pantallas de laptop y demanda mas memoria que es razonable ahorita.
  
  -Se puede hacer un Channel or Album de vídeos en cualquier orden que te gusta
  
  -Tu puedes elegir adonde se pueden embeber tus vídeos ahorita esto esta en los controles de cada vídeo.
  
  -Sin enlaces a Vimeo, ya se puede quitar el logo en el player y vamos a ofrecer hasta mas control en el futuro.

  Estoy de acuerdo con Luis Caldevilla, sería muy importante Vimeo en español, por lo demás estoy muy satisfecho de pertenecer a Vimeo aunque mi nivel deja mucho que desear, pero disfruto mucho en la página, veo que se mejora en muchas cosas, en otras se intenta, pero se percibe mucha calidad.

  It was difficult to find the renewal page and then I found that that the Send Payment button had to be pressed, before the information boxes became active. All other payment pages I've used, had you press that button only after the information was entered. There should be a link to the Renewal page, prominently showing on our Home Pages.
  
  Otherwise, congratulations on surviving one more year. I don't know how you do it on the peanuts we pay in fees. Too bad the Guvmint doesn't squeeze its nickels so hard. You know what the Buffalo does, when you do that.

  Only been a member for a week, but so far this has been a very useful tool. Vimeo stands head and shoulders above Youtube and other video sites that are, mostly, oversaturated with junk, by people who 'just' want attention. The Vimeo staff has given professionals, and other people who take their work--and the medium of video--more seriously, a chance to get their work seen. And to have it seen in a venue with far better design and layout options for members. Keep it up, guys!! ;-)

  I also agree with having a more souped-up account version available, called "PRO" or "MAX". For no more than $80/year. Say a viewers clicks on your "videos" icon in your profile, the member should be able to control the order of that list. Not always allowing viewers to necessarily sort by alpha order, newest, most seen, etc. This way, if you have a video you believe represents your best work, but hasn't had that many hits (for example, your demo reel), you can give it more exposure upfront. Also, it would be nice to have the option of disabling display of your "recent activity" to the public. ;-)

  You can set three videos as your "featured" videos in your profile if you go to your settings here: vimeo.com/settings/profile
  And don't forget about albums! Make a special album to act as your portfolio. You can order those however you like.

  It was the privacy option to keep videos off my public Vimeo page that convinced me [PLUS] is finally for me. Now I can manage all my videos here and just hide those that are only interesting for family & friends. It's nice to see requests turning into features, thanks for listening.

I loved being able to find what you guys are up to :) I know your basically doing this with recent blog updates but it was cool to see the developmental percentage change.   viemo plus is great, i really don't regret.
  I know that you'are working to increase 1Gb limit, but i know how the bandwith is expensive.
  Only one suggestion, One year subcription is a long time, and the investiment is expensive in one time.
  In my opininon if you propose a 10$ month subcription, it could work too.

  What about an embed video with an action script in the end that would make the video end on a picture (not the last picture of the video, but an other picture -that could be the exact same that the last picture of the video but with clickable links!!!)?
  With this device it would be possible to use vimeos videos as animations for websites.
  It would be awesome!
  Tell me how stupid or genius this idea is!
