Hilly Staats en Ineke Frings zijn Amarant. Hun samenwerking begon in 1987. In 1989 traden ze voor het eerst op onder de naam Cabaret Amarant. In de loop der jaren is de muziek een steeds belangrijkere rol gaan spelen in de programma's. Tegenwoordig treedt Amarant op met liedjesprogramma's.
