We actually use the 16-35 on the 5Dmk2. So far we have used our 7D's for longer range shots, due to the extra length you get with the 1.6 crop factor. However, as we start using the 7D as our primary camera, we will definitely use the 16-35 on it for wide shots.

Yeah, the wind can be an issue. I ran into that in Mexico when we were shooting on the beach. Still, I used to run an xha1 on a Pilot and wind was an issue there too, but not as much. I typically shoot the 16-35 at 16mm and 24mm. Rebalancing...that's really the trick to the Merlin. I am constantly rebalancing anyways, since that thing is so sensitive, but it's become second nature so moving from 16mm to 24mm and even to 35mm isn't that big of a deal for me. It just takes some time to get used to it.

Thanks RMV. The Merlin has become a close friend...I don't know that the 5d is better on the Merlin than a bigger rig, but for me, it's weighted perfectly for in-hand use without fatigue. I have the vest and arm, which I used to use for the XHA1, but with the 5d being so light, I don't seem to use it much. Eventually I would like to invest in the Flyer, but right now I feel I am getting major bang for my buck with the Merlin.
