Born in Manila, Philippines and raised in a convent in Guam, Celia Esguerra is a former advertising executive, digital strategist, movie trailer producer, and California Delegate to the 1992 Democratic National Convention, Celia is a screenwriter director, contemporary realist painter and co-owner of Raw Materials, a fine art supply store in Downtown Los Angeles and a recent recipient of an LA Weekly Best of LA 2011 Award.

An optioned screenwriter, Celia is a Film Independent P:I Screenwriting Fellow and has produced a number of short films including Represent, a short film written/directed by Academy Award-nominated writer Iris Yamashita (Letters From Iwo Jima) with Executive Producer Justin Lin (Fast & Furious, Better Luck Tomorrow), and The Old Samurai, written/directed by 2010 Film Independent P:I Directing Fellow Benjamin Wong,

Celia is currently writing a feature-length action/thriller set in the Philippines and a coming-of-age comedy that explores what happens to Asian-American overachievers when the test-taking ends.
