Speaking at the Blue Ridge Forever celebration of the preservation of 50,000 acres, Dr. McMillan explains why the southern Blue Ridge mountains are such an important ecosystem to protect. "These mountains are a crucible of life," he proclaims. Dr. McMillan is host of the ETV show "Expeditions with Patrick McMillan," and is director of the Campbell Museum of Natural History at Clemson University.
Blue Ridge Forever is a coalition of nine Land Trusts of western North Carolina formed with the goal of protecting 50,000 acres in five years. On September 28, 2010 Blue Ridge Forever threw a party to celebrate meeting that goal. Speakers include Rep. Heath Shuler, Dr. Patrick McMillan, and Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton.
