1. Sergej Vutuc contacted me and told me he had reserved some wall space for me to put up some photos for the opening of the new PlemPlem book/ zine shop and art gallery! They also plan to expand PlemPlem into a live venue for bands, with a bar, and a tattoo studio, and perhaps some skateable terrian. What they have going on there is one of the coolest set ups I've ever seen. When me and former Heilbronn resident Johnny Dachs arrived Thursday afternoon after a 3 hour train ride from Cologne, the place was pretty trashed with a lot of work still to do before the opening at 6pm the following day. Many people came together to help and artists from all over Germany set up their shows and cleaned up the area. Sergej and friends were painting the walls, hanging art, hooking up the refrigerator for some cold beers and setting up an area for some live music. Everything came together minutes before the opening and all involved as well as the gallery / shop visitors enjoyed a very special evening of the beginning of a creative place that anyone would dream of having as their own. I was proud to be a part of the opening at PlemPlem and look forward to many more inspiring events! - J. Hay

  2. Wasted Box skate shop opened in April and there was quite the celebration! beers, art, skateboarding...until the wee hours of the night. Art from: Brusk Collective, Sergej Vutuc, Confusion magazine's sk8 photo show, and Herr Schulze painted a crazed skater with an ax on the wall for the opening. Good times, great skate shop... come check it out if you are in germany, or ever passing through....

  3. We watched Bonom paint this building for 2 hours. Total renegade style and no one complained. Let's see that happen downtown Los Angeles without the riot police showing up and beating the shit out of him.... freedom of expression (although not sure how stoked the bar keeper at Black Jack was going to be the next day), but probably all abandoned buildings.
