1. Two artists joined together to create the November show for Art in the Underbelly, which culminated in an opening night that brought the audience one step closer to the creative process they explore.

TXLW and As One created illustrative, street art and graffiti influenced works directly onto the walls and during the opening night whilst being soundtracked by one of Norwich's finest DJ's, The Anthropologist. For Tasha, this marked her return to her native Norwich, for As One this marked his first show in our fine city.

Tasha's work is inspired by idioms, phrases, cosmic thoughts, nature, pattern and the little funny creatures she creates when she is drawing. Inspirations she has drawn on whilst creating murals with the Sketch City collective in Manchester as well as solo work for the Free for Arts Festival, Unconvention festival, The Chinese Arts Center and Berlin.

West Midlands based As One is influenced by the comics he read whilst making his first graphic explorations with crayons at an early age. Inspired by a nomadic lifestyle that has seen him travel across the world, As One creates bold, striking, graffiti style pieces both in public spaces and on gallery walls.

  2. "initial documentation of a painting which gradually appears and then fades away to nothing every few minutes. the piece uses thermochromic paint, resistance wire and homemade circuitry."

One of our favourite pieces from Submit & Exhibit and by far one of the most innovative, this piece quietly transforms throughout the day. Why not come and see it in the flesh, the gallery is open to the public on Mondays 12-5 and Tuesday to Friday 12-3.

Art in the Under Belly is a new creative space for Norwich. Housed beneath The Rumsey Wells, its aim is to offer artists the opportunity to exhibit in an intriguing and unusual environment. Far from being another gallery, the space is a converted cellar packed into intimate surroundings. There are no white walls or large floor spaces, instead the walls and the space retain much of their original character adding to the individuality of the surroundings. The space is open Mondays from 12-5pm and Tuesday to Fridays, 1-3pm.
Showcasing new works or work previously not exhibited in Norwich, its monthly private views are based not only around the art on show but also a program of live music and DJ's, the aim being to bring another element to the already burgeoning Norwich arts scene.

Our Vimeo channel will play host to videos of opening nights, performances and documentation of artists and their art work. We will host interviews with artists whose work features in the space and give all our viewers the opportunity to delve further into the art that they create.
