When they started the project, Bicycle Portraits aimed to be a study of South African commuter culture, and they wanted to find out who rides bicycles, why they ride bicycles, if and why they love their bicycles, and of course why so few South Africans choose bicycles as a transport option. But Bicycle Portraits has turned into a portrait of a nation through…

The Bicycle Portraits project has raised over $25,000 though Kickstarter during their first and second successful fundraising efforts. Nic and Stan would like to thank everyone who has so kindly pledged towards the Bicycle Portraits project so far. They are currently spending as much of their time as possible traveling through South Africa by bicycle to meet and photograph as many fellow cyclists out there as they can find, and the Bicycle Portraits book will be completed in the first half of 2011.
Watch out for Bicycle Portraits / Part III on Kickstarter when they will be taking more pledges to raise an additional $12,500 to get them closer to realizing their ultimate goal of printing 3000 copies of the Bicycle Portraits book.
If you would like to pre-order your copy of their adventure now for only $55 (R380) and help turn this project into a beautiful photographic book you can pre-order via PayPal or electronic funds transfer.
