Introduction to Memory Factory: Caribou Harbour. This site is about Caribou Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It commemorates the fishery of this region as told through the memories and oral histories of those involved. It has a particular focus on the Maritime Packers factory which at one time was the largest plant of its type with over 600 workers and 600 fishers delivering their catch to the plant.

Laura Langille worked at Maritime Packers, at one time the largest lobster packing factory in the world. She began in 1950 working with her mother as a cook's helper. She worked herself up from the factory floor to the office.

Bill and Winston MacDonald were two of five sons of Maurice MacDonald who was a manager at Maritime Packers during its heyday during the 1940's and 50's. The brothers worked at the factory as students and often had some of the worst jobs as they were the boss's kids. Both Bill and Winston have fond memories of their experiences working at the factory.
