I will do a lesson on this very soon, but here is a nice example of how it is possible to pick out certain colours in footage using masks. It's pretty simple in Final Cut Pro X as once a colour mask is made you can change stuff inside or outside the mask. I have not really taken too much care doing this but it still looks quite cool. Here is a nice easy technique which follows on from my Colour Isolation in Final Cut Pro X tutorial where I take you one step further and show how to animate the effect using keyframes and stacked clips. This technique can be used for all sorts of things like such as animated the built-in effects in FCPX. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful in your projects.

This is a short longboard film I recently produced. The idea behind it was to marry some slow motion longboard sliding to a 'glitch' track and mash it all up to the beat.
