  2. On June 11, 2011 the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, located in the heart of the nation's capital, presented a "living exhibit" that recounted the use of balloon technology in the Civil War. Civil War re-enactors were on hand to share stories and facts about the Balloon Corps, and despite the heat, there was a great turnout.
