Poon Choy is a large dish (or rather bowl) of fine food eaten at festive occassions.
I was invited to a Poon Choy gathering at a village far west of Hong Kong called 'Tong Fook'. Families from neighbouring villages came with their spiritual representatives in the form of Chinese unicorns (also referred to as Kirins) and lions.
There were over 200 tables at this event where the villages celebrated the Lunar New Year.
Feasts of this magnitude are rarely seen nowadays as these small villages become increasingly isolated while younger generations migrate to the city.

We pretty much shot this (and another video) in one day. The direction is fairly formulaic for Hong Kong Canto-pop music. Every Canto-pop song more or less revolves around heart break or lost love!
Shot on a Panasonic GH2 with Lomo anamorphic lenses (50mm round and 80mm square) and Canon 5D MKII with a 24-105mm zoom lens. About two-thirds of the footage was from the GH2. The 5D was a necessity because my anamorphic lenses couldn't focus as closely as the 24-105. Unfortunately I didn't know how to operate the 5D so you can see it was set on auto mode..
