Vietnam Volunteer Network

  1. Our Special Children at Go Vap orphanage
We adore the little angels we support at Trung Tâm Nuôi Dưỡng Bảo Trợ Trẻ Em Gò Vấp Orphanage & as such you can see our awesome Australian Vietnam Volunteer Network Manager, Kate Loring & our fabulous & talented VVN volunteer Ella Ossi (AUS) with some of the special kids, many of whom have Agent Orange related illnesses.

Earlier this year our French medical partners ADM Vietnam & the Vietnam Volunteer Network split the cost of Chau's hydrocephalus operation & medical fees and the VVN also donated the shunt for his hydrocephalus operation. As you can see Chau's big smile has returned & looks so happy and healthy!

We are an ethical volunteering & aid organisation and our team members have a special relationship with the children & love them as though they were our own brothers & sisters; I was adopted from this orphanage, a few of the team members are also adopted from Vietnam & the other wonderful team members have all volunteered at the orphanage through the VVN.

If you would like to share in the joy of giving your time & experience to help the sick, disabled & terminal children, many of whom are afflicted with Agent Orange related illnesses, please download our application form, fill it in & email us. Details are on this link. vietnamvolunteernetwork.com/contact1.html

If you would like to donate towards supporting our medical, educational or landmine projects, you can do so via the following link, please remember to write a note as to which project you would like your donation to go towards.

  2. In 2009, I took Huong for an MRI scan & found she only had half a brain lobe and would be prone to hydrocephalus. Earlier this year the VVN donated a Medtronic shunt for her hydrocephalus operation, which our medical partners ADM Vietnam then conducted in Jan 2013.
We would like to thank ~ Go Vap orphanage ( Trung Tâm Nuôi Dưỡng Bảo Trợ Trẻ Em Gò Vấp) for their love & care towards Huong & her physiotherapy treatment, Medtronic Ltd, ADM Vietnam, their wonderful team & Minh Chau Ton & their donors and of course our awesome VVN volunteers & donors!
Together we CAN make a difference!

  3. I LOVE this video that I took of Nhat trying to kiss Hien & thought it would be perfect for Valentine's Day!
This video shows how loving & sweet the sick & disabled children are at Trung Tâm Nuôi Dưỡng Bảo Trợ Trẻ Em Gò Vấp (Go Vap orphanage). Sometimes these children teach us more about life, than we could ever teach them.

In 2007 I returned to Go Vap orphanage to give back as I was adopted from there 1975, in the late stages of the Vietnam War. I had quite a shock as Nhat was only a few months old & stopped breathing, so I had to learn on the spot how to resuscitate him. The following year I returned & found that Nhat had initially stopped breathing due to having complications with hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). After some lovely Australian ladies had paid for his operation, I knew that I needed to do more for these sweet children. Nhat is now a healthy & active sweet boy & the orphanage Director is looking for parents who will adopt him.

Hien has polio & clubbed feet & she is such a sweet heart & I could tell that she was quite bright. Last Year (2012) I managed to get the orphanage to send her to school within the orphanage as she had not been educated at all. Hien is now progressing very well & will be having an operation to rectify her clubbed feet. My Vietnam Volunteer Network will be paying for her physiotherapy after the operation.

I was drawn to helping the sick & disabled kids as I too was very ill when I was a baby & wanted to ensure that I could give these special children the same chances that I had. Hence me creating the Vietnam Volunteer Network.

If you would like to volunteer to help the sick & disabled children we support in Vietnam, please contact us & we will send you an application form.

  4. Our fabulous new Vietnam Volunteer Network team representative & Physiotherapist, Ms. Debbie Button from America has kindly created tips for our volunteers, showing in simple laymen's terms how to do basic physiotherapy for the bedridden children, many of whom suffer from Cerebral Palsy.
Before you volunteering placement commences, please take time to review these tips and most of all, have lots of love & fun when doing these basic tasks with these special children.
A big THANK YOU to our Aussie/Vietnamese VVN volunteer, Lam Huynh Pham for creating this video for us!
Together we CAN make a difference!

Welcome to the Vietnam Volunteer Network!

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" Martin Luther King Jnr.

We recruit volunteers & deliver aid to the children in Vietnam, especially those who are in orphanages or hospitals & who suffer from Agent Orange related illnesses, disabilities & malformations.

The volunteer staff at the VVN have either been adopted from Vietnam so understand what these children need, or have actually volunteered with our organisation, so we have experience, connections, empathy & love these very special children very much!

I hope our videos will inspire you to volunteer in Vietnam as well as see the natural beauty & culture of our new Vietnam!

Together we can make a difference!
