This video is a recording of a panel on "Absolute Assets: Accounting for natural capital in lending and investment," which took place at the 2011 UNEP FI Global Roundtable on Sustainable Finance in Washington D.C.
There is mounting evidence that the current loss of natural capital has far exceeded the economic losses of the 2008 financial crisis. This event will provide insight in to the latest developments in integrating biodiversity and ecosystem services criteria in to a variety of finance and investment products. It also features a call for financial institutions to endorse and support a 'Natural Capital Statement for Financial Institutions.'
Speakers in the video are Pavan Sukhdev, Founder and CEO of GIST Advisory and McCluskey Fellow at Yale University; André Abadie, Managing Director and head of Environmental and Social Risk Management at J.P.Morgan, London; Daniela Mariuzzo, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Rabobank Brazil; Lori Conzo, Environmental Specialist; Environmental, Social and Governance Department at IFC; Shawn Miller, Managing Director, Environmental and Social Risk Management of Citi. The moderator was Richard Burrett, partner of Earth Capital Partners and co-chair of UNEP FI.
