This male Rufous Hummingbird is the mate of the female in the companion video. These three clips were taken the over the course of one day, one in the morning, the other two in the afternoon which explains the light variations. The male is far more elusive than the female and usually will not visit my feeder unless around sunrise or sunset.

This is a female rufous hummingbird. Isn't she amazing? She has a mate that is pretty spectacular, too. They are tiny birds but don't tell them that. They are very territorial and will harass birds much larger than themselves if they feel the need to do so.
