New York City has always been a mecca for creative people. Many artists manage to make it in New York by living frugally. They reduce their lifestyle to food, a roof over their head, and the time and opportunity to practice their art. This documentary explores an artist of this type: Rajiv Leroy is an uprising hip-hop music composer from Boston. He was accepted to the Institute of Audio Research in NYC for a degree in audio production, but oddly, he decided not to attend school and hopes to make it big without formal schooling. Rajiv and a group of friends with common interest formed a group API, "Always Proper Individuals", a collection of beat craftsmanship. API's philosophy is drink something, smoke something, but always stay positive. Despite not having many resources like a studio or audio equipment to compose beats, Rajiv still manages to make music and is currently working on his second album "Bodega Bacon".
