Station Cove is located on the eastern edge of Sumter National Forest near Walhalla, South Carolina. A decent trail parallels the creek for about 3/4 mile and terminates at the base of Station Cove Falls. This area is lush with plant and animal life. Human impact seems to be minimal. This is one of the cleanest trails I have been on. Again, low rainfall was a bit of an issue. It has been several years since some of these streams have had a consistent

    Holcomb Creek Falls

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

Holcomb Creek Falls is located just east of Clayton, Georgia in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area. This is near the infamous Chattooga River and is a fairly remote location. After traveling 6.5 miles on a one lane dirt road, it is about a 1/3 mile hike along steep terrain to the falls. Another 1/4 mile on the trail will bring you to Ammons Falls but I did not find it that interesting. Directions may be found at http://www.jjanthony.com/waterfalls/falls/holcombcreekfalls.html Shot

    Winter on the Tellico River

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

The Tellico River is located in the Cherokee National Forest near Tellico Plains, Tennessee. This was my first trip to the river and was mainly a scouting expedition along the headwaters in preparation for filming kayaking this spring. I had planned carefully and picked a sunny day when the temperature would be in the 50’s in order to avoid ice and snow while traveling through the mountains. When got there I was amazed to find the river access

A Hike Along Blood Mtn. Creek

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

Blood Mountain Creek is located in the Chestatee WMA which is near Cleveland, Georgia. I hiked from its confluence with Dicks Creek and upstream about a mile over several boulder fields. Along the way are several interesting waterfalls and rock outcrops. The area has a very ethereal feel to it. I shot this in December so there was not much flora or fauna to be seen. But the big advantage is not to have to contend with poisonous snakes (copperheads

    Raven Cliffs Wilderness

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

I spent a couple of days hiking in the Raven Cliffs Wilderness area located near Helen, Georgia. Encompassing a little over 9,000 acres, this mountainous area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Only about 5% of the Wilderness is easily accessible and most visitors can be found at either Dukes Creek Falls or at Raven Cliffs Falls Trail. A small section of the Appalachian Trail also crosses the wilderness. I was lucky to be there during the

    A Hike Along Mill Creek

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

Mill Creek is located in the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area near Chatsworth, Georgia. It is a beautiful place in a fairly remote area. There is a crude trail starting at Hickey Gap Campground which follows the west side of the creek going downstream. Directions can be viewed at http://freecampsites.net/hickey-gap-campground/ . From talking to some locals, the creek has an intermittent flow but clears up quickly after a rainfall. I visited

    Ocoee River Unleashed

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

I usually make videos of peaceful nature scenes but I have wanted to do a high energy project so I could improve my editing skills. I spent some time last week at the Ocoee River in Tennessee videoing rafters and kayakers during water release from TVA dams 2 and 3. Shot in June 2011 with a Panasonic HPX170 set at 720/60p 1/120th shutter speed. Edited with Edius 5. Music by Kevin MacLeod (Impact Allegretto). Music licensed for use under Creative

    Yellow Branch Falls

    by Mark Williams

    Uploaded

Yellow Branch Falls is located in the Sumter National Forest just a few miles northwest of Walhalla, SC. It was recommended to me by fellow Vimeo member Rich Stevenson. I waited until after a couple of rainfalls before visiting the park in hopes of a decent water flow but it was only marginal at best. It was a long hot hike with heavy gear, but I think it was worth it. More infomation about the falls may be found at http://www.ncwaterfalls.com/yellowbranch1.htm Music
