Guest: Christine Hittner, Commissioner, Office of Health Insurance Commissioner, firstname.lastname@example.org
Host: Richard August Time: 30 minutes
This is the FOURTH of a series of programs about the impact of the Obamacare in Rhode Island and the State’s health insurance exchange, HealthSource RI as seen from the perspective of Health Insurance Commissioner, Kathleen Hittner. She candidly discusses United Health Care’s action of dropping primary care providers whose patients are Medicare Advantage members from its network and the role her office has played in helping those affected. She discusses the future of health care with particular reference to the “Patient Centered Medical Home” model, which brings together primary care provider, nurse practitioner, therapist, technologist and others focused on patient care and well being. Health professionals will be paid on the basis of patient health outcomes. Copayments and deductibles concern Hittner as they often interfere with consumer decision making.
