Report about the german meet-up of an Audi R8-Fanclub at the workshout of exhaust system manufacturer Capristo.
Shot in two days with the Canon EOS C300 and the usual Canon zoom lenses (16-35, 24-70, 70-200 mm). Additional shots and B-Cam done with several GoPros.
The crane shots where done with the ABC mobile crane system, which is set up and ready to shoot with in merely ten minutes. Some shots where done on a short Glidetrack slider.
I was particularly pleased with how the interviews turned out to look. The good dynamic range of the C300 captured enough detail in the very bright background despite us having only two Kino Flo lights as key and fill. Because of the nice Canon optics, all details shot with the 70-200 mm also turned out quite beautiful. I enjoy the quality of the C300 so much more compared to the 5D-range.
However in the stabilized shots of the exhaust system, where the old and new exhaust systems are compared next to each other, you can clearly see the rolling shutter effect. This is only a problem for stabilized shots however and can be fixed in post. But the C300 is all but rolling shutter distortion free.
Post-Production was still done in Final Cut Pro with additional work done in Cinema 4D for the intro animation. Written and edited in about three to four days by our team. Color correction was done with Magic Bullet Looks.
The final quality of the video is 1080p Full HD, despite here on Vimeo being only 720p.
English voice over performed by Paul Richard Booth.
This video shows the modular support-system for the Canon EOS C300. It builds up in several stages. An infinite number of configurations is possible giving the cameraman the freedom of choice needed.
