Why are the worse things we do, always the last things we put right.

In a Santiago back street in the middle of the night
The children work for money and the men take away their lives
They’re sold on corners and they’re humped in the back of cars
And the children of the world no longer belong to us

On a Santiago back street the moon wanes north to south
And the flavour of her sherbet won’t take his foul taste from her mouth
And a 12 year old rape victim gets a baby inside
And the illegal abortion gives her parents 5 years in prison to decide


Is god looking after these children

In a Santiago back street at the bottom of the world
You vomit on your feet to witness what men do to little girls
He touched her soul made her bleed its how they survive
When she’s finished with the dirty man the lights has gone from those once wonderful dark eyes

Men bring on sex and death she’s only 7 years from birth
Little girl made to do the things your mother couldn’t bare

On new years eve we drove around that city for 3 hours and took 4 thousand photographs. Gave it my song stupid people, stood back and smiled.
