Nobel laureate and leading economist Professor Joseph Stiglitz shared his views on matters including the eurozone crisis and the world economy. He also participated in a question and answer session with audience members.
IBA Public and Professional Interest Division Chair Peter Maynard spoke about the challenge for the IBA and its members of continuing to fulfil its aim of being the ‘global voice of the legal profession’. He mentioned many of the week’s sessions including the IBAHRI, BIC and PPID showcases.
Sylvia Khatcherian told delegates they were ‘uniquely positioned’ to have their voices heard on legal and regulatory developments. She also spoke about some of the 140+ working sessions organised by the committees and fora of the Legal Practice Division.
IBA President Akira Kawamura expressed his delight at seeing so many delegates from so many different countries at the conference. He praised the Irish legal profession’s rich history, the country’s vibrant culture and thanked the Dublin Host Committee and IBA staff for their hard work.
