Simulation time took almost 2hr on Core I7 2600k 16GB RAM
Cache size is smallest size 321 MB and biggest size is 941 MB in total for 100 Frames is 53 GB , I hope these numbers can help you with people who are thinking why your fluids dont have enough details like you see in other fluid tests.
Test above is a fairly small resolution for a Peter Jackson movie, I have been told some blockbuster movies Maya Fluids voxels goes up to 300 million, compare that to my test up there with cont rez 500 which adds up to 26,750,000 VOXELS 11 times smaller.
Another test for Fluids, I am preparing myself for a possible shot to come to work on. This has a autosize on and a resolution of 300. I would really appreciate input and also on how o fix the uber sharp edges.
Container Auto Resize is OFF and this one is 250 rez. due to all the particles volume axis fields involved at this rez this beast uses almost 8gb ram, driven and emitted from and by particles emitting particles. I also have separate particles for more rotation as this was the difficult part to do.
This is a complete tornado rig with top layer, tornado body, ground pickup, surrounding dust, and instancer particles available for further detailing, this is the body and the ground pickup turned on....
I wanted to make an option to slow down and but keep the overall feel and shape, but I could only achieve this by caching with more steps or caching much longer frames then needed so can be slowed down for more epic look.
