I worked on this project as Assistant Director and a creative consultant during editorial with my regular partner in crime, the talented Nick Mahar (nickmahar.com)
Makeup: Shiva Zandi Produced by JFedi
The talent is Ryan Jordan, formerly of N3W ERA, featuring M.I.C. (also of N3W ERA) and Ashley Vee
Another fun collaboration with my good friend and colleague Nick Mahar for the insanely talented Chapkis Dance Studio Crew, under the direction of the maestro Mr. Greg Chapkis.
These guys are incredible and they've performed and competed all over the world, including major TV competitions. Greg and his people are also amazingly down to earth and fun to work with, so I highly recommend checking out their work @ chapkisdance.net or on Nick's portfolio site @ nickmahar.com
Official Music Video for The Growing Room's hit single "Nothing Lasts Forever"
The concept sprang out of an image Growing Room composer and frontman Aaron Eckhardt could not shake out of his head while we wrote the song. He brought his story to Director Patrick Lundberg and DP Nick Mahar and from that seed they developed this heart-felt story of growing up and appreciation for what you have in life.
Aaron from the Growing Room continually impresses me with his lyrics and musical talent, so every chance I get to work with him on a video, I jump at it.
I love collaborating with Nick Mahar (who directed this one) and Aaron on music videos, we keep the crew intimate and small (usually just Nick and I actually!) and we always have a blast.
Easily one of the coolest locations we've got to shoot for this video was the Alameda County firemen training tower facility, which we lit on fire and then ran through wearing firesuits with our cameras. This video is also featuring yours truly because our actress ended up getting horribly lost on her way to set, so I stepped in as the fire victim. I'm not faking being asleep, the smoke and pollen in the air was more than enough to knock me out cold.
Fresh off a new deal signing and the shoot for Ryan Jordan in San Francisco, M.I.C. enlisted Nick Mahar and I to help him out with the video for his new hit single 'Take Off'.
Getting free run of a private airplane hanger gave Nick and I a lot more freedom to try new stuff, and with the help of another regular collaborator of ours Lorenzo Pace, we went for something more aggressive and impactful than what a crew of three usually pulls off. We were very happy with the end result and we hope you enjoy the edit as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
Music Video Collaborations with Nick Mahar
Outside of being my regular DP for commercial and personal work, I always collaborate with Nick Mahar on music videos. As a team we really enjoy creating a big budget feel for local Bay Area artists with essentially no production budget at all.
