METROPOLIS

  1. A video ballet duet made for Thomas Meluch (Benoit Pioulard) and his wife. Made using custom built analog mixers, no computers were involved in this production. This was done in real time in one take via pure video feedback running through my custom built video mixers (demos can be seen on my vimeo page). It is a video ballet as my bodies manipulation directly affects the video making the video signal itself dance.

Rolls 2 through 11 were shot on my honeymoon, where we drove from Edmonton, Canada to San Francisco, USA and back to ...
    Roll 12 - home

Bye bye Kodachrome ... I'll miss you.

  5. ONCE UPON A TIME, a jealous little elf named YOOL felt quite neglected, lonely, and positively enraged. It was Christmas Eve and he knew Santa was away cavorting in other people's living rooms. The thought of Santa engorging himself on countless helpings of fatty milk and gooey cookies sent him into a rage, plus he knew all about Santa's secret kisses. Yool began smashing everything in sight, including his little elf friends with their upturned noses. A trusty hammer goes a long way on a lonely Christmas night.

From 1997, YOOL IS BLOO was shot on 16mm film and optically printed. Only two prints were made. One of them was given to Mark Lapore in a Castle-Film style box as a Christmas Gift that year. Additional camera by Rebecca Budrose.

"I really think that Macy's has missed an opportunity by not playing this in their windows on endless loop all season long. The sense of elfin longing as you slide down the windowpane brings to mind the uttered "rosebud" and the fantasy cartoon Santa in dirty 16mm juxtaposed against the very real angst of your lonely elf playing in his room is a potent harbinger for many an American Apparel ad. This is a masterpiece of Subjugated holiday sexuality, a celebration of the subtext of Santa-dom. Best Christmas film ever." - Jerry Kolber
