This is Phillip, he is perfect. Or so he thinks he is. But this begs the question, are we meant to be perfect? What does perfection look like. When Christ urges us to be perfect, his challenge is to be mature. As the message puts it, “In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” Now, doesn't that sound like something worth striving for? Or would you rather end up like Phillip here?
