Mário Gravem Borges - An interview with the Surrealist painter - Mario Gravem Borges is a Brazilian painter who started his life as a young artist while he lived in Rio de Janeiro. From there he moved to London, where he developed the Surrealist style he had brought from Brazil. In London, he spent more than 20 years and was considered a prominent new surrealist by the critic John Russell Taylor, from The Times. This video is a small documentary intervew with the artist in his atelier in Campinas, Brazil, where he lives now.
Alberto Teixeira - Lyrical Abstraction painter - Alberto Teixeira was born in Portugal and came to Brazil in the early 1950's, where he became a Geometrical Abstractionist. After some time living in São Paulo, he went bak to Europe, where he spent two years living in Paris and Germany. Lyric Abstractionism was in vogue during the 1950's in Paris. This experience framed his life as a painter. The documentary is based on the last interviews and exhibitions of his life, made while he lived in Campinas, Brazil.
It was a lot of fun making this video about the biennial art festival that takes place at the Latin Eye Museum, in the city of Atibaia, near São Paulo, Brazil. Artists from all over the country and even from abroad have their works shown at the exibit.
