This classic old song tells of a love snatched by the wind, and returned by a magic spell spoken into a calabash and cast adrift from Kipahulu. Both Ledward Kaapana and Cyril Pahinui have recorded gorgeous versions of this sweet mele along with many others.
This instrumental arrangement uses taropatch open G tuning - D G D G B D from low to high. The video was captured during my Aloha Friday in Downtown Pleasant Hill series. The guitar is a Kathy Wingert Model E, with a B-Band AST pickup. Audio was recorded on a Zoom R16 and mixed with camera sound from a Flip Ultra HD video camera. The facing shot is from the Flip, the side shot from a Kodak Zi8, and the 3/4 angle from a Sanyo Xacti HD2000. Audio editing was done in Reaper, I used Edius Neo 2.5 for video editing.
