In the early 1990s, the late, great Alex Lowe began rallying a small crew of co-workers at Black Diamond who would wake well before first light, skin up, ski down and make it in to work on time. Dubbed 'Dawn Patrol', the tradition has grown from a cult-like ritual to the ultimate local institution, embraced by Black Diamond employees and passionate locals alike.
This video is a part of our Dawn Patrol 2014 Digital Catalog which also includes stunning imagery of a Wasatch ritual. What began as Alex Lowe's drive to simply ski more has grown into a ritual among Black Diamond employees. Through our years of early morning ski tours, we've created a collection of gear and apparel to handle the unique demands of pre-sunrise skin tracks and first-light powder laps.
