New York City is the famed fashion capital of the world. It’s home to some of the world’s most fashionable, glamorous, eclectic, and bohemian fashion icons. Personality is infused in every look. New York City’s range of styles is as unique and diverse as its population. This year, Maestro Productions sought to turn the runway into the streets of New York City. The Fashion Show featured the grunge bohemian look of Greenwich Village, the hipster fashions of Brooklyn, the hip-hop style of the Bronx, the preppy apparel of the Upper East Side, and the glitz and glamour of the Upper West Side. Thanks to the talent of Ithaca College student designers and the generosity of clothing vendors, Maestro proudly presents “Empire Runway: Urban Chic.”

The Making of Empire Runway:

Plans for the fashion show launched into full swing after a productions staff comprised of Ithaca College students was established in early December. After a two-week interview process, three student designers were selected. Together, the production staff and designers held two rounds of model auditions and ultimately chose 36 models to rock the runway, two of which already hold the title of professional models! While the production crew worked at Ithaca, the creative staff met with make-up artists and vendors in New York City, Ithaca’s Commons and other surrounding areas. The staff was invited to attend Composition Inc.’s Make-Up Fashion Show. Production and creative staff crafted the show’s theme, Empire Runway: Urban Chic and worked tirelessly to secure vendors and entertainment for the event. After months of rehearsing, collaborating, designing, and planning, Maestro Productions proudly presents the Spring 2010 Fashion Show!
