This movie shows how image based color smoke looks like simed by FumeFX 3.5.
In some case, smoke has mixed color according to ground condition. It makes smoke shading much realistic. You can see some references from those movies.
I used particle source for emitting smoke using thinking Particles 4. Particles are emitted from plane object and obtain color according to texture map where particles are generated. Those particle's color transfer to smoke color using TP's Data Channel information.
