Generous — def., liberal in giving or sharing; unselfish; free from meanness or smallness of mind or character; magnanimous; large, abundant, ample
Other words that describe “generous”: free, charitable, liberal, bountiful, and munificent. All these words describe persons who give others something of value in attitude, action, word or deed. Implied in all of this is not the gift alone, but the attitude with which the gift is bestowed. Paul said that God loves a cheerful giver (II Cor. 9:7).
Generous, cheerful and loving giving is a mark of true conversion. The natural man is selfish, self-centered and generally quite unwilling to part with that which he claims is his own whether it be his time, services or material resources. Generous, cheerful and loving giving of all of these promotes unity in any environment. This kind of generosity glorifies Christ.
