In Torquay, Australia, the brothers go on grom patrol and learn about the Torquay Boardriders Club with Aussie surfers Adam Robertson and Cahill Bell Warren. Next they go lawn bowling and get served by old school Aussie members. After a surf at Winkiepop, the boys’ final stop is the Bird Rock Café for beers and shots. The brothers head to Melbourne, the culture capital of Australia. The first stop is a visit to the Victoria Bitters Brewery to learn how their favorite Australian beer is made. Next, the boys break down the Melbourne’s CBD (Central Business District) and go exploring the maze of lanes and alleyways. During their walkabout, they discover an artist named Doyle who breaks down the vibrant Melbourne street art scene. After, they head over to Dinkum Pies to devour their famous meat pies and then close the trip with a last minute session at the beautiful Bells Bowl. The Basque Country is full of beautiful scenery, surf and food. The brothers land in Bilbao and their first stop is a walk along the river to take in the architectural sites before bombing it for the coast and the town of Zarautz. The boys connect with some friends from the Pukas crew; surfers Adur Letamendia and Kepa Acero, talk with a Basque fisherman and experience a Basque cooking club called a Sociedad. Lastly, they let loose at the Pukas Annual Beach Party. San Sebastian is the culture capital of Spain. After a surf session at Zurriola Beach, the brothers are leaving no pintxo unturned. A lunch with a storied Basque Photojournalist leads the brothers to walk the streets and get a guided tour to some of the best pintxos in town. The night ends with hard cider and a five star meal at Gastronomica, an exclusive restaurant in town. It’s only been within the last few years that we’ve noticed enough crossover in surfing and skating that the idea of a collaboration like this was real. And we’re not talking about maneuvers, grabs or any of that political mess. We just noticed ourselves admiring the ethos and mentalities that skateboarding cherishes. They reminded us of a better time in surfing. A less selfish time in surfing.
