This is a short video-essay examining Martin Scorsese's films. It is part of a series of video-essays I am uploading for education purposes and is protected by the Fair Use part of the copyright law of the United States.

In this video essay I take a look at Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver.
It's been almost two days since I found out the news of Philip Seymour Hoffman's unexpected death and I still find myself unable to really process it. I still find myself grieving over a man who I never met, who never met me. For the last twenty years I've watched him in movies and plays with my family and friends. He made me laugh, he made me feel, he made me think and today while editing this video he made me cry. Making this video brought me a small amount of closure, of accepting that this is something that really happened. I hope it can do the same for anyone who watches it.
My heart goes out to his friends, his family and anyone else who finds themselves missing him as much as I do right now.
Rest in Peace Philip Seymour Hoffman
