All of this footage was shot at Wyadup Rocks 10 minutes south of Yallingup in the Southwest of Western Australia. It was a beautiful evening with awesome clouds and the odd bolt of lightning.
I was shooting with my brother Christian. He was taking stills and I was shooting vid all with the Canon 5D mk 2 and various Canon lenses ranging from 24mm f/1.6 to 400mm f/5.6.
One of Christians stills features on this video. You can see more at christianfletcher.wordpress.com or www.christianfletcher.com.au

This is my first attempt using the new Canon 5D in video mode. The camera has amazing high def picture quality and great color capture. Most of the footage in this clip is straight from the camera apart from some stylizing in FCP.
Low light capabilities are not as amazing as first reported especially when shooting video, but it kicks my XHA1's proverbial @#^*.
The biggest drawback is not being in full control of the aperture when shooting video. All that lovely depth of field disappears when you hit that record button. Cant understand why Canon haven't picked up on this. Maybe its a technical issue that cant be changed.
We are toying with trialing a fully manual Carl Zeiss lens with it. Stay tuned. www.christianfletcher.wordpress.com www.christianfletcher.com.au
Sorry guys, this is a bit of a long one. If you start the movie and then read my ramble it should be ready to watch.
I was fortunate enough to be invited aboard possibly the greatest adventure cruise boat in Australia if not the world. The boat for those of you who have not heard of it is the "TRUE NORTH" and it circumnavigates the Australian continent visiting some of the most remote coastline in Australia and also ventures past these waters to many unseen Pacific Island destinations.
"TRUE NORTH" is designed for pure adventure whilst providing a 5 star luxury platform for those hours not spent diving off spectacular coral atolls, catching elusive Barramundi, swimming in pristine waterholes, or taking in a cultural experience first hand.
All these things are achieved by the incredible design of the "True North" with its shallow water ability and possibly the coolest thing ever, the Bell 407 helicopter. I can only speak of my personal experience on the East Kimberley expedition, and…
Christian and I found a couple of days spare to visit Karijini National Park in the North West of Western Australia after a shoot for Rio Tinto. We picked up a straggler in the form of Mark Stothard from northstarcruises.com.au
Christian, Mark and I braved the excessive heat and extremely dangerous conditions to capture some of Karijini's awesome beauty.
All types of equipment was used on those two days including, Canon 5D Mk2's, 1Ds Mk3's, Canon TS-E 24, TS-E 45mm tilt shift lenses, Canon 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 300mm, 400mm etc.etc.
A special thanks to Matt at Canon and Ben at Team Digital for supplying some of the gear used in this production.
Christian is a bit slow so some of his amazing stills haven't reached his blog yet but keep tuned on christianfletcher.wordpress.com and www.christianfletcher.com.au
Music again was from "Passion" by Peter Gabriel.
(Thanks Pete)
First test footage with the Canon 5D Mark II. While pleased with the results of the camera, it felt a bit awkward at first especially trying to keep your eyes on the viewfinder hoping focus is achieved. Most of the night shots were hovering in the " is this going to be too noisy?" 1000 to 3200 ISO range maybe even 6400. All I can say is wow! The low light capabilities are stunning.
Canon Lenses used:
50mm 1.2
85mm 1.2
16-35mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
180mm 3.5 macro
Cheers!
