This is the second update of Tate Shadows taking advantage of improving qualities of Vimeo.

We made our way to visit the Cy Twombly art show and as we drove we listened to Jah Wobble’s CD, Heaven and Earth .
I reminded Mrs Monk that Jah Wobble, was given his name by the Sex Pistol, Sid Vicious who mispronounced his real name, John Wardle.

This movie started as a simple filmed solitary walk from our home to the sea and back, with one stop at the Coop for wine and cheesecake. We revisited the St Paul's occupation Saturday 17th December. Mrs Monk wandered about as I protected the car from the attention of parking attendants. I was glad to have this task because I was toasty on the coldest day of the year, while Mrs Monk surrendered herself to the elements and snapped away for an hour or so. Aboard a tractor designed as a train, a Turismo Train with six carriages, we surveyed the restaurants and the tee shirt shops that had serviced us for five days. The Tee shirt shops had provided free shade, one pair of flip-flops and a grass mat for laying upon the beach. (The latter was not utilised because it was too damn hot.) The cafes provided sardines and beer and sea bream and vinho verde, and also shade from the unrelenting sun, We were sun-seekers…
The Thames estuary is where conflicting weather systems frequently meet and produce, foreboding, and even sublime cloud formations. These photographs were taken on one fifteen minute car journey from the supermarket to our home, along the sea front of Southend upon Sea, where humanity also meets and clashes in other British day-tripping ways,
