"X-Magazine Benefit." A film by Coleen Fitzgibbon and Alan W. Moore 1978/2009, video, 11 minutes.
"Colab's X Magazine Benefit" documents the punk rock performances of
DNA, James Chance and the Contortions, and Boris Policeband in NYC in
the late 1970's. Shot in black and white super 8 and edited on video
the film captures the gritty look and sound of the music scene during
that era. The film/video was made by Coleen Fitzgibbon and Alan Moore
and finished in 2009.
The Lizards, led by neo-saxman John Lurie, were best known for their outsider approach to bop. This is perhaps their best work, filled with humor and a solid melodic sensibility. Marc Ribot's angular guitar and the complement of Evan Lurie's piano make the disc a particular delight. Madhouse jazz for the unhinged. (allmusic.com)
