1. Andrew D Lyons presents a solution to the problem of how to create a large number of moving contained fluids. This presentation was originally given to the San Francisco Houdini User's Group which was held at PIXAR studios in October 2010.

    The final system demonstrates how Houdini's unique procedural tools can be used to create automated solutions to VFX challenges that might otherwise require costly dynamic simulations. The system draws on a number of Houdini's operator contexts in order to do so.

  3. This series looks at a more advanced compositing workflow - compositing a rendered model over a live background plate.

    In this first part we create the scene, apply textures to the model, add the background plate and position the model. We then add and adjust a shadow casting light.
