Shot around the South Island of New Zealand over three weeks, The Waters of Greenstone explores the ever changing landscapes of the Catlins Forest Park, Fiordland NP, Queenstown, Mount Aspiring NP, Mount Cook NP, Arthurs Pass NP and Castle Hill.
Timelapse sequences were shot on the Canon 5D Mark III with 17-40mm f/4L and 24-105mm f/4L, and include use of the Emotimo TB3 Black motion control head. The video segments are a combination of 5D Mark III RAW video (using Magic Lantern firmware) and aerial photography from the DJI Phantom quadcopter with Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal and GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition shooting 2.7K Protunes at 25fps. I used a 40" Digital Juice Slyder for the dolly shots.
Processing and editing was completed in Lightroom 5, LRTimelapse, After Effects and Premiere Pro CS6.
This film is a combination of time lapse and video shot over two weeks while exploring the South Island of New Zealand. Locations include Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wanaka, Kinloch, Glenorchy, Fox Glacier, Mount Cook National Park, Twizel, Lindis Pass and Haast Pass.

This whole project has been an amazing experience. The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. We'd like to expand this idea to other locations and would appreciate any suggestions for a future project.
Our hearts go out to the families of Markus Praxmarer who lost his life while climbing Half Dome on September 19th, 2011 and Ranger Ryan Hiller, who was crushed by a tree January 22nd 2012. They will be missed. (A photo of Ranger Ryan Hiller can be found to the right, above the statistics counter)
