V3: Now 1080p version
V4c: Working on lower sharpening (mainly for the stills)
V5: Updated grading and 720p (10/5/2011)
What is the purpose of this video?
We want to show a place where we like to be and photograph. The video shows our photographer's perspective. We also show some photos we took in the same scenery. For us Point Lobos is a place for meditation and the calm video should show that.
This not intended to be a travel guide to Point Lobos. Sound is right not settled. We plan to use some piano music later.
Filmed with Panasonic AF100.

We had strong wind and overcast this morning. While the overcast was nice the wind was not (rattled the camera and tripod).

Every year Monarch Butterflies gather at Pacific Grove (at the same very spot). We consider this one of the wonders of nature.
This movie was shot with the Panasonic AF100 and the 100-300mm zoom (mainly at 300mm). 300mm is a 35mm FF equivalent of 600mm.
Edited with FCP 7 with some color corrections.
These shots look so obvious but it shows details that you cannot see with your naked eyes.
Sunlight maybe not ideal for shooting but the Monarchs are way more active if the sun is out.
We are very pleased what we can do with the AF100.

Our first little short with the Panasonic AF100. All shot with the 14-140mm kit lens.
Some color corrections in FCP 7 and mild sharpening (we get it soft from the camera).
Update: lowered sharpening (feedback welcome).
Just think about it… What if you were trapped under something heavy and the mouse was out of your reach? Scary, right? That's exactly why we have these keyboard shortcuts so you can still use Vimeo until the help arrives.
